In a case of suspected honour killing, a father is said to have killed his 15-year-old daughter and left her body in front of the house of the person she was allegedly in a relationship with, because he was against the relationship. The incident was reported from Muzaffarnagar district in Uttar Pradesh.
According to a Times of India report, Jabbar Qureshi walked into a police station at Charthawal village on Wednesday morning and surrendered.
In the early hours of the day on which the killing occurred, the accused's wife heard some noises coming form her daughter Gulsaba's room. When she discovered that a man was present in the room with her daughter, she locked it from outside and informed her husband.
Soon, Qureshi's neighbours realized that their son Dilnawaz Ahmad had been locked up in his house and alerted the police.
Qureshi, who was said to be very upset about the incident, slit his daughter's throat and later threw her dead body in front of Ahmad's house.
The police reportedly arrested Qureshi after he confessed to the crime in the police station.
"The situation had become explosive as both families and their relatives had become highly agitated. But we arrested Qureshi," TOI quoted Sanjeev Sharma, SO, Charthawal police station as saying.
