Newly appointed Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has banned chewing of paan and gutka in all government offices across Uttar Pradesh after finding walls stained with tobacco in the annexe building of his office in Lok Bhawan in Lucknow.

The Yogi Adityanath government must be facing a strange quandary over a case that implicates the sitting chief minister of inciting hate speech from two years ago. CM Adityanath is accused in it, along with four others, including BJP MLA Radhamohan Das Agarwal and BJP Rajya Sabha MP Shiv Pratap Shukla.

Surgeries and OPD services at major government hospitals in Delhi will be affected as 20,000 resident doctors threaten to go on casual leave in solidarity with doctors in Mumbai, who are also striking. Those working will be wearing helmets to protest against the rise in violence at doctors by relatives of patients.
