Tripura Education Minister's Guard Allegedly Commits Suicide

AGARTALA -- A security guard, posted in the official residence of Tripura School Education Minister, Tapan Chakraborty on Wednesday allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service revolver, police said.

At around 9 am, Badal Sur (52), a police havaldar on security duty in the official residence of the minister shot himself from his service revolver. He was taken to G B Pant hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries in the afternoon, SP (West Tripura), Abhijit Saptarshi told reporters.

Sur had lost his wife one year ago and was in a state of severe depression. He is survived by his son, the police said.

The SP said police is investigating the case.

Chakraborty, condoled the death of Sur and described him as an 'obedient and dutiful employee'.
