Just ahead of the launch of rival Lenovo's Moto G5 in India, Xiaomi has achieved yet another milestone, selling over 1 million Redmi Note 4 phones in the country. Xiaomi managed to achieve this feat in just 45 days.

The Redmi Note 4 was launched in India on 19 January with three variants, priced at ₹9,999, ₹10,999 and ₹12,999 respectively. Xiaomi was able to sell 250,000 units in the first online flash sale held just days after the launch.

However, the road ahead might not be as smooth for the Redmi Note 4. The Moto G5 Plus is being launched tomorrow and will be available on Flipkart for sale right away. While it will cost more than the Redmi Note 4, but it could still slow down sales for the latter.

In 2016, Xiaomi managed to sell over 3.6 million units of Redmi Note 3 in India, and the Chinese phonemaker is aiming to sell over 7 million units of Redmi Note 4 this year. To reach this ambitious figure, Xiaomi might have to switch to a non-flash sales model along with expanding its offline sales network.

In China, Xiaomi is launching a variant of the phone with 4 GB RAM. The company recently launched a Matte Black version of Redmi Note 4 in India.
