A day ahead of the counting of votes in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Ram Gopal Yadav said that he was sure that his party would emerge victorious and that Akhilesh Yadav would become the state's chief minister for the second time.
Commenting on the exit polls that have projected the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the lead, Yadav said that according to the information available to him, the "original exit polls" had been changed by the television news channels under pressure.
Yadav also said he was confident that SP, along with the Congress party, will win "absolute majority," reported PTI.
Dismissing the possibility of a hung assembly, Yadav added that the SP-Congress alliance will win 236-240 seats.
Yadav also claimed that the BJP was not aware of the ground realities in Uttar Pradesh and hence was not in a position to form a government.
The counting of votes for UP Assembly elections will take place on 11 March.
