Morning walkers and fitness enthusiasts come to Lodhi garden early on a winter morning.

If you love taking a stroll at the Lodhi Garden at Lutyen's Delhi, you're in for a treat. Come April, and you will be able to enjoy Wi-Fi services for free.

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) is making arrangements for the same and tenders have already been floated.

"There is a plan to provide free Wi-Fi at all the major parks under our area in the longer run. For now, tenders have been floated for Lodhi Garden and the service is likely to commence in April," a senior NDMC official was quoted as saying by PTI.

The civic body plans to provide the service using 'smart poles' which are LED streetlights equipped with Wi-Fi facility and security cameras.

Around 12,000 such poles will be erected across NDMC areas.

According to reports, the council has been planning the project for the last two years but it was stuck in a limbo.

After Lodhi Garden, the NDMC also plans to provide free WiFi at other parks, important monuments, Metro stations and market places under its jurisdiction.
