Very soon, Delhi police officials will be going from one religious place to other early in the morning everyday to remove any objectionable thing, like "meat, beef or pork" from the vicinity.
According to a report in Indian Express, Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik has issued directions to all districts police heads to compulsorily participate in this exercise.
The religious places include temples, churches and mosques. And the patrolling will take place everyday between 4 am and 6 am.
The reason for this exercise?
Patnaik has reportedly told the officials that it would ensure that "miscreants" are not able to "cause any damage to these prayer venues" or start riots.
The report notes that this move could be after tension simmered in some religious places when meat was found. In 2014, a slaughtered pig was found in a mosque in Okhla.
"It seems the riots were engineered and it is easy to spark a riot in a sensitive area like Okhla," a resident had then said.
