Two air hostesses have accused a 23-year-old passenger of molesting them in a drunken state on a Jet Airways Mumbai-Nagpur flight on Saturday. The two women filed a written complaint, addressed to the flight captain, against the accused.

Gopalsingh Mohansingh, captain of the flight, informed the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) about the incident and handed over the accused, one Akash Gupta, to them. The CISF then contacted the Sonegaon police who arrested the accused and registered an offence of outraging of modesty under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Gupta was interrogated by the cops and produced before the court on Sunday, which sent him to magisterial custody.

A native of Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh, Gupta had gone to Goa on a vacation. According to the police, he had allegedly consumed liquor in Mumbai, before boarding the flight. He misbehaved with the two air hostesses and grabbed their hand when they were serving him food.

The air hostesses immediately informed other crew members who tried to intervene. However, Gupta continued arguing and misbehaving, and the crew members then informed the captain.
