After offering almost six months of free services, Reliance Jio today announced a paid plan for users of its broadband and mobile telephony services. The premium plan offered by Jio will cost ₹303 per month and will offer the same benefits as the Happy New Year offer launched by the company in December. Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani made the announcement today in a live broadcast.

Jio users will have access to free 4G data of up to 1GB every day, besides enjoying premium access to Jio apps and free voice calls. The cost per day to the user for these services comes to ₹10. Users will also have to pay a one-time signing-up fee of ₹99.

The new scheme will commence from 31 March and users signing up for this plan will be called Jio Prime Customers. Other existing users will still be able to enjoy the benefit of free voice calling.

Jio Prime members will be able to enjoy the benefits of the Happy New Year offer until 31 March 2018. It is expected that the company will announce new plans at the time.

Ambani thanked Jio customers for using the telecom service provider's services. He also said that Jio passed the 100-million customer mark in 170 days.
