India's space agency ISRO created history today by launching 104 satellites successfully into the orbit. By doing so, it has created a world record, replacing the Russian agency's 37 satellite launch of 2014.

The PSLV C37 rocket launch took place from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota at 9:28 am.

It was the 39th flight of the PSLV rocket series.

The 104 satellites are from six countries, including India. These will be operative at a sun-synchronous orbital height of 505 km. Three satellites from India are namely, Cartosat 2 series which is the primary satellite and other two are INS-1A and INS-1B.

The mission director at ISRO congratulated the team and the partners after the successful launch. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi also wished the Indian space agency for the record launch.

There are 96 satellites from the US. Amongst which 88 are from Dove Satellites and the remaining 8 are from LEMUR satellites. The other payloads are BGUsat from Israel, Al-Farabi-1 from Kazakhstan, PEASSS from the Netherlands and Nayif-1 from UAE. The total weight of the payload carried by PSLV C37 was 1378 kg.

After the successful launch, ISRO is also looking at the second mission on Mars and a mission to Venus in the coming years. The government of India has recently increased the space budget by almost 23 percent with these missions in mind.
