The World Radio Day is celebrated on 13 February every year. The national broadcaster of India, the All India Radio (AIR), has been a great source of information and education since it came into existence in 1930. In a digital age of explosion of information sources, AIR still reaches an astonishing 99.19% of the total population of the country and has programming in 23 languages and 146 dialects.

Here are some delightful, vintage snapshots from the government archives of our own public radio service over the years, to mark #WorldRadioDay.
