Hours after E Madusudhanan was removed from his post as presidium chairman and from primary membership of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) on Friday, the veteran political leader has hit back at party acting general secretary VK Sasikala.

"She cannot expel me as I have already expelled her from the party," Madusudhan told The Times of India.

He claimed that the party's bylaws stated that the cadre of the party would elect the general secretary, and her election was "null and void". He had reportedly even sent a memorandum to the Election Commission to this effect.

Meanwhile a tweet from the party's official handle announced that K. A. Sengottayan has replaced Madusudhanan as Presidium Chairman of the party.

Sasikala has meanwhile "staked claim" to form government, and met Governor Vidyasagar Rao at Raj Bhavan yesterday.
