Cases were registered on Tuesday against three men, who were allegedly cattle smugglers after they scaled the wall of the National Security Guard Campus (NSG) in Gurgaon in a bid to escape gaurakshaks.
Confusion reigned when the three men scaled the wall of the campus in Manesar at 8:30 pm. The Times Of Indiareported that a warning shot was fired by the guards at the NSG campus when they noticed the men trying to enter the premises.
While the newspaper reported that the men were being chased by the local police, other reports suggest that they were trying to escape cow vigilantes.
A report in The Indian Expresssuggests that gaurakshaks tried to stop the Tata car in which the men were travelling, and the men sped past only to abandon the car in an empty field nearby.
The gaurakshaks claimed that they even found a cow inside the car and informed the Kherki Daula police station.
Two cases have been registered against the three men.
Assistant sub-inspector Suresh Kumar, who is the investigating officer in the case, told The Indian Express, "We have impounded the car and are conducting further investigations. We expect to catch the men soon, by tracking them down through the vehicle."
The police are still investigating the matter.
