In a tragic incident incident reported from Haryana on Friday, a girl studying in Class XI at a boarding school in Karnal committed suicide after allegedly being harassed to get into a lesbian relationship.

According to a report in the Times of India, the 16-year-old victim was found hanging from the ceiling inside her hostel room in the school campus.

The report said that the victim, who was staying with her elder sister, a second-year BA student at the same institute, was allegedly being pressured by two sisters who were also studying at the same institute to get into a lesbian relationship. The victim's sister disclosed this in her statement to ASI Lakhbir Singh of the Balla police post.

The victim's family members said that they had informed the school management about the harassment and she had been shifted to her sister's room after the complaint.

The school authorities, however, denied receiving any complaint.

The accused siblings have been booked under Section 306 of the IPC for abetting suicide, police said.
