BJP Lawmaker Says Three Districts With Large Muslim Populations To Be Put Under Curfew If He Comes To Power

The Supreme Court has outlawed seeking votes in the name of religion and caste, but the message is clearly lost on BJP lawmaker Suresh Rana who declared that a curfew would be imposed in Kairana, Deoband and Moradabad if were to come to power.

Kairana, Deoband and Moradabad are all communally sensitive spots in Uttar Pradesh with large Muslim populations. Western U.P. will go to the polls on 11 February.

Addressing a BJP booth sammelan in Thana Bhawan area of Shamli district on Saturday, Rana, who is named in d cases related to the Muzaffarnagar riots of 2013, said, "Yadi maidan maar liya to Kairana, Deoband, Moradabad mein curfew lag jayega mitron...."
