In a shocking instance of public apathy in Mysuru, Mahesh Kumar, a 38-year-old inspector, bled to death on the Mysuru-T Narasipura while bystanders took photos of the dying man.

The News Minutereported today that two police personnel, Kumar and Lakshman, 32, were killed following a head on collision with a bike after which they rammed into a bus. Lakhsman, the driver, died immediately, but Kumar, who was stuck in the jeep, was alive for almost 30 minutes.

A crowd reportedly gathered near the jeep but not one person came forward to help the dying man, according to the report. Neither did the bystanders rush him to the hospital nor did they call for an ambulance.

"We arrived at the spot some 25 minutes after the accident, and took Mahesh Kumar to a nearby private hospital. He succumbed to his injuries within minutes," the Mysuru SP told TNM.
