Last year, BJP's Dayashankar Singh managed to shock even members of his own party when he compared Mayawati to a prostitute. "Even a prostitute fulfills her contract. But Mayawati sells party tickets to the highest bidder," he said.
Now, it's the turn of another BJP leader to reveal how at least some our leaders think about women in politics.
With the UP Assembly election around the corner, and anticipation growing around Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's role in the Congress Party's campaign, BJP leader and Rajya Sabha member Vinay Katiyar has offered this disgusting observation: "There are many other girls/women more beautiful than her who are star campaigners. There are heroines, there are artists, they are more (beautiful)."
But the BJP leaders by no means have a monopoly over disgusting remarks against women.
In a speech made on 24 January in Patna, Janata Dal (United) president Sharad Yadav said, "beti ki izzat se vote ki izzat badi hai" (the honour of a vote is higher than the honour of a daughter).
