There are two kinds of people in India right now -- those who support demonetisation and those who don't. Either way, no one can deny the extreme nature of disruption in everyday lives in the wake of this surprise move by the government. Is at all for the better, or has this exercise been one gigantic fiasco?

Nothing we say on the subject can be as well-articulated as Bhanu Pratap Singh Bhayankar's poem. Facebook user Vijay Tripathi, the Kanpur-based editor of a Hindi-daily, uploaded this video of the elderly man reciting a poem that sums up his favourable views on demonetisation.

Singh applauds the Modi government for the decision but also captures the plight of those caught on the wrong foot. Watch the video here:

Singh recites that after Modi sarkar's decision, the crooked politician began wondering how he will entice the masses to vote for him. The politician seemed to regret having accumulated so much cash. Singh then recalls how after 500 and 1,000 rupee notes were banned, so many people ran to the bank and stood in the queue from morning to evening but in vain. And then, there were those who had stacked notes in their homes and were now sitting scared of a raid. He also adds that Kejriwal is the saddest of the lot and Sonia Gandhi has been left flummoxed. Singh then continues to say that every child is happy with the decision and everyone supports the decision.

Not everyone will agree with this optimistic view of the situation but no one can deny that Bhayankar is gifted when it comes to the syllabic metre.
