Six Die, 30 Critical After Consuming Toxic Liquor In West Bengal's Burdwan

Investigation has started into the incident.

BURDWAN -- At least six people died and 30 others fell ill after consuming spurious liquor in West Bengal's Burdwan district.

The patients have been admitted to Burdwan Medical College and Hospital where many of them are said to be critical. After the incident, a medical team was authorised to look into the issue.

According to the reports, late Monday night a man named Sanjay Ruidas was returning home after drinking when he started feeling unwell.

After heavy vomiting, he was declared dead at Pursha Block Hospital. A few minutes later another case came into light, where a man named Keshtu Baudi showed same symptoms, who was later declared dead at the hospital. These back to back incidents created a chaos among the people.

Sensing the emergency, District Head Dr. Saumitro Mohan and Superintendent of Police (SP) Kunal Agarwal along with other officers met the victims to console them.

Investigation has started into the incident.
