OnePlus is finally rolling out the Android Nougat Update for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T phones, after having promised to update them by the end of 2016.

Company CEO Carl Pei made the announcement on the evening of 31 December on Twitter.

The update is wrapped in OnePlus' customised version of Android, called OxygenOS 4.0. It is based on Android Nougat 7.0 and will be rolled out to users on an incremental basis. So Indian OnePlus 3 and 3T users might have to wait for a few days for the Over The Air (OTA) update to arrive.

The latest update includes new features such as a new notification and settings menu design, support for direct reply from the notification, the multi-window feature which is one of the highlights of Android Nougat 7.0, and Quick Launch for third party applications which mimics the iPhone's Force Touch function.

With this update, OnePlus is rolling out the open beta program for OnePlus 3T users as well, which will include the newer update on an experimental build for testing. The company had launched a similar program for OnePlus 3 users in November for the Nougat build.
