Ravi Shankar Prasad Said Modi Is As 'Pure As Ganga', Twitter (Obviously) Had A Field Day

BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad came to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's defence against allegations from Rahul Gandhi and called him as "pure as Ganga".

The Congress Vice-President accused Modi of having been paid crores in kickbacks when he was the chief minister of Gujarat, during a public meeting in Modi's home district Mehsana, which had been the epicentre of the Patidar agitation.

"I condemn the irresponsible, shameful allegations of Rahul... the public will never believe this. The country need not expect differently from Rahul, who under the Congress, has been the guardian of corruption," said Prasad.

What Prasad in his verbosity didn't foresee is how much a hit the Ganga analogy would become on Twitter. Or perhaps he did.

While many commented on the appropriateness of the analogy, others posted photos of a polluted Ganga while some went a step ahead and quoted the Supreme Court which back in September this year had slammed the Centre's action plan for cleaning the Ganga saying that the plan would be unable to accomplish its goal "even after 200 years".

Here's what Twitter has been saying:

Fact: Ganga is among the most polluted rivers

P.S.Resemblance to any leader is purely coincidental
