The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a fresh complaint from digital wallet company Paytm, which has allegedly been cheated by seven customers including "Brother" and "Hotty Killer" amounting to Rs 3.21 lakhs, the TOIreported.

The customers reportedly placed as many as 37 orders in the past two years that included a refund despite successful delivery of orders. This is the second such complaint made by Paytm recently that CBI is investigating. Last week, the agency registered a case against 15 customers in Delhi allegedly cheating Paytm to the tune of Rs 6.15 lakh.

It is rare for CBI to investigate matters regarding private organisations unless they have been referred by the central government or there are directions by the Supreme Court or a high court.

But the agency has defended its investigation, saying that it can take up cases under the IT Act in the National Capital Region. The seven new customers hail from Delhi, Mathura and Bhilwara, according to the report.

"Hotty Killer" allegedly made six purchases between March 31 and April 6, 2016 including an iPhone 6S worth Rs 45,688 and a Samsung Galaxy J2 worth Rs 8,705, according to the report. It's unclear what "Brother" purchased.
