Until now, there was some hope that between Hrithik Roshan's Kaabil and Shah Rukh Khan's Raees -- both big-budget entertainers slated for a January 25 release -- one of them will change its release date.
All eyes were on the trailer of Shah Rukh Khan's Raees, which released yesterday. But no, despite sharing a warm relationship with the Roshans, Khan decided to keep the release date intact. His was a film that was already delayed by a good six months as it was supposed to open with Salman Khan's Sultan.
Now, in a Pinkvilla interview, Hrithik's father Rakesh Roshan, who's also the producer of Kaabil, said, "I knew that they will shift the date. But some people told me that nothing of that sort will happen. My instinct said that they will shift the date. But, it is ok. 4-5 shows will not make a difference."
He added, "I cannot comment on others. But, I wouldn't have done such a thing. When I plan my release, I check all of it. I checked the slate and saw that there were films in those months and January didn't have any dates and hence, I decided to release it in Jan 2017. We are an industry and there is a business here where not just producers, but also other workers are attached. Exhibitors, distributors, and others cannot be deprived of their livelihood."
He also said that two credible actors coming on the same date is unhealthy and both will get burnt but to 'what extent, we'll have to wait and see.'
