India's Surgical Strike Against Terrorists Most Talked About On Facebook In 2016

The top live video which has 9.2 million views by now is a teacher teaching alphabets in a unique way.

It has been a mixed year for Facebook in India. While it reached the mark of 166 million monthly active users (MAUs) in India, it had to let go of the dreams of the ambitious Free Basics program. Nevertheless, that didn't deter the people from using the social network more.

Facebook released its list of top things that went by on the social network in 2016 in its 'year in review' for India and the world. The social network revealed that apart from Cricket and Diwali, India's surgical strike on terrorists in Pakistan was the most talked about. While Priyanka Chopra's international success made her the most talked celebrity Pokemon Go and iPhone 7 took top spots from the world of tech.

Facebook grew its mobile presence tremendously as it clocked 81 million mobile Daily Active Users (DAUs) out of 85 million DAUs in total. Its push towards live videos is also working well. The top live video which has 9.2 million views by now is a teacher teaching alphabets in a unique way.

The other top live videos are from Bollywood celebrities such as Sonakshi Sinha, Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan.

On a global scale, the US president election and Donald Trump's victory was a top moment followed by the talk of Brazilian Politics during the Olympics. Pokemon Go found its place here as well to be ranked at the third place.
