NEW DELHI -- Miffed over the appointment of Dilraj Kaur as the member secretary of Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), which the Lt Governor's office has termed as "temporary", Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today hit out at Najeeb Jung, likening him to "Hitler".
Comparing Jung to Hitler Kejriwal tweeted:
The LG office said the appointment of Kaur was necessitated by retirement of Alka Diwan, who previously held the post, on November 30.
"The post fell vacant so a stop-gap arrangement was made.
This is a temporary appointment as the Lt Governor felt the post should not remain vacant considering its importance," an official in the LG office said.
The LG office also rejected the government's contention that a proposal made by it with regard to the appointment was pending with it. "In fact we have asked the Chief Secretary to come up give us the government's recommendation if any."
The appointment of member secretary to the DCW (Delhi Commission for Women) recently emerged as yet another flashpoint between Kejriwal and Jung.
Kejriwal had termed as "unconstitutional" the earlier appointment of Diwan to the same post, saying Jung had overlooked the name suggested by the government.
DCW chief Swati Maliwal had alleged that the appointment of Diwan led to the stalling of the functioning of the Commission and was subverting its autonomy.
