When Apple presented the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in September this year, the applause was loud but there was no accompanying cheer. In fact, some faces wore a frown, possibly as a reaction to the removal of the headphone jack and the solid state button.

There were hardly any design changes in the new iPhones. And, as expected, Apple has been saving the changes for next year's iPhone launch which will mark the 10th anniversary of the original iPhone. The first strong rumor floating about is that the Cupertino, California, based company will ditch the beloved LCD in favour of the better OLED display. Although, supply issues linked to the OLED display panels might force them to release only one model with the newer screen.

Some reports suggest that the home button will be sacrificed in the new phone, which will sport a curved glass bezel-less look. Though, it is important to note that it hasn't even been a year since Apple began working on a new static home button. Samsung already uses a curved display in its Galaxy lineup while Xiaomi has recently introduced a design stunner with a nearly bezel-less look, the Mi Mix.

"The new device will also be able to create more complex tactile vibrations on the display because of a tiny, but high-performance motor equipped inside," a Nikkei report suggests.

There is a possibility that Apple will opt for an all glass design to support wireless charging. In the past too, Apple has designed some phones with glass backs.

The latest speculation concerns the camera, which everyone has loved in the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. A report in the Korea Economic Daily suggests that the new iPhone will have LG Innotek 3D dual lens cameras. It will be worth seeing how the cameras are integrated, as Apple had acquired an Israeli startup called LinX which works on 3D imaging. The company introduced dual cameras in iPhone 7 Plus with 2x optical zoom and depth imaging.
