Madhur Bhandarkar, whose film career is going through a lull with flops like Heroine and Calendar Girls, has finalised the cast for his next -- a drama revolving around the Emergency invoked by the Indira Gandhi-led government in 1975.

According to a Bombay Times report, Neil Nitin Mukesh will be seen playing the character 'loosely inspired' by Sanjay Gandhi while it isn't clear as yet who will play Indira Gandhi.

"It's great to team up with Madhur once again after Jail (2009). The role is extremely challenging," Neil was quoted as saying by the paper.

Neil was last seen in Bejoy Nambiar's Wazir and before that in Sooraj Barjatya's Salman Khan-starrer Prem Ratan Dhan Payo as Khan's jilted brother.

His performance was widely panned for its hamminess.

As for the Bhandarkar film, it is titled Indu Sarkar and also features Kirti Kulhari of Pink and Shaitan fame as a rebellious poetess.

The film will be shot in Karjat, a small town on the outskirts of Mumbai, where Delhi will be recreated.
