Rejecting the Opposition's demand, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday said there is no question of withdrawing the demonetisation move as it is aimed at purifying the economic situation of the country.

"Let me clear it. AAP and the TMC have demanded a rollback of demonetisation. There is no question of rolling it back. This is a clear decision of the government and the Prime Minister to purify the economic situation of the country. We will remain firm on this," Jaitley told ANI in an exclusive conversation.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has issued a three-day ultimatum to the government to withdraw the demonetisation scheme or face intensified protest.

Proceedings in both the Houses of Parliament were washed out today over demonetisation issue. The Lok Sabha managed to transact business only till noon while the Rajya Sabha witnessed five adjournments before both the Houses were adjourned for the day.
