Websites of Indian embassies located in seven countries in Europe and Africa have been hacked and confidential data -- including names of people, their email IDs, passport details and phone numbers -- has been posted by the hacker online.

A report by the online news source, E Hacking News, suggests that the hack was done under the name Kapustkiy & Kasimierz L and it affected Indian embassy websites in South Africa, Libya, Italy, Switzerland, Malawi, Mali, and Romania.

Various databases, containing mostly data related to Indian students, was uploaded by the hacker on the website called PasteBin. The number of entries was more than 500, with much of the data comprising names of individuals, their passport details, phone numbers, email IDs, and addresses. However, it appears that, as of now, the hacker has taken down the data from the website.

"I am from Netherlands. I've found several SQL on their website and I reported it. But they ignored me, so I dumped their db," the hacker reportedly told E Hacking News in an email.

This is the latest in a series of attacks on Indian websites that have occurred this year. Recently, Pakistani hackers targeted over 7,000 Indian websites following surgical strikes by the Indian Army across the Line of Control in Jammu & Kashmir. Hackers traced to China managed to insert a malware through an ATM in India, affecting 3.2 million Indian debit cards.
