After Bollywood actor Salman Khan, actor Kabir Bedi has now come out in support of Hillary Clinton for President of the United States in the upcoming poll and wished the politician "all the best" for the elections. The 70-year-old veteran star tweeted that a woman President in America would be a "historic landmark".

During Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Japan, an Indian military band is set to participate in the Japanese Self Defence Forces (SDF) marching festival 2016 in Tokyo. This is the first time India will participate in the annual event which is being held since 1963 and and is attended by over 50,000 people.

A man on Sunday claimed on Twitter that his 4G Lyf phone, sold by RIL's retail arm Reliance Retail, burst into flames. After he put up the complaint with photos of the phone, the official Twitter handle of Lyf smartphones promised him a thorough investigation of the matter.

The one good outcome of the current controversy about the NDTV blackout has been the realisation of the sweeping powers that the government holds, says an editorial in Mint. "Last year, the government had introduced an extra clause — 6(1)p — to the Programme Code of the Cable Television Network Rules, 1994. This clause prohibits live coverage of anti-terrorism operations and restricts media coverage to periodic briefings by a designated officer. Any violation of the code allows the government to order a channel to go off air for a period of time. The action against NDTV India marks the first time the new clause has been used to punish a TV network," it says.

The agreement between India and Sri Lanka on establishing a Joint Working Group on fisheries is a small step forward in resolving the dispute between fishermen of both countries, says an editorial in The Hindu. "...One way of preventing boundary transgression is to find a livelihood alternative for Tamil Nadu fishermen. Equipping them for deep sea fishing is an option. For now, Tamil Nadu should show greater understanding of the plight of the Sri Lankan Tamil fishermen, who are economically weaker and yet to fully recover from a devastating war, and agree to a more reasonable phase-out period," it says.
