NEW DELHI -- Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi gave Delhi Police officers a lecture inside Mandir Marg police station on Wednesday afternoon, after he was detained alongwith family members of Ram Kishan Grewal, the ex-serviceman who committed suicide on Tuesday at the Jantar Mantar in Delhi over the delay in implementation of the One Rank, One Pension (OROP) scheme.

Gandhi had tried to meet Grewal's grieving family members at the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital when he was stopped by security guards and then later detained by police for "disruption of duty". He was later released.

In a video shot inside the Mandir Marg police station, Gandhi schools the police officers, asking them if the law dictated that the family of an ex-serviceman and "martyr" should be detained. He demanded that they should be let go if they weren't arrested.

"Aapko sharam nahin aati? (Don't you feel ashamed?)" Gandhi is seen asking the police officers. "Aapko kya lagta hai, Hindustan ke shaeed ke bete ko arrest kiya jaata hai? (What do you think, and Indian martyr's son should be arrested?)"

The policemen appear careworn and at a loss how to respond to Gandhi, only insisting that no one has been arrested but they could not be allowed to leave yet. Watch the video below:
