There have been reports that, very soon, Reliance Jio will deliver its SIM cards at your doorstep. While the home delivery of SIMs is indeed an option now, it comes with several conditions attached.
Many reports state that there is a form for the home delivery of SIM available on the Jio website that can be filled out, but a search of the website yielded no such form. On the other hand, if you Google "Jio at your doorstep" you get a page which lets you register your interest in the SIM delivery.
There are two options on the page, saying either 'Enterprise' or 'Housing Complex'. A look at both the forms reveals that a company's CEO, marketing head, purchasing head, HR head or any executive can request Jio to come to its premises and distribute the SIM cards. Similarly, a chairman of a housing society can also register their interest in the SIMs.
But you have to ensure that there are at least 40 applicants for the Jio SIM in your organization or housing society. The next steps are pretty simple. When the Jio executive arrives with the SIMs, you will have to show them the generated bar code from MyJio app and get your SIM registered instantly through the eKYC process with the help of your Aadhar Card.
Reliance executives told HuffPost India that there are no current plans of launching home delivery services for individual customers but that might happen in the future. Right now, the doorstep delivery service is available in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Pune, and Ahmedabad.
Recently, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) ordered Jio to end its welcome offer by 3 December as any inaugural offer by a telecom company can only be valid for 90 days. TRAI also slapped fines totalling ₹3,050 crores on Vodafone, Airtel, and Idea.
