An affiliate group of the right wing Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has suggested that English should not be made mandatory at any level from elementary to high school and references that insult "Indian culture, tradition, sects, thoughts, eminent personalities" be removed from text books.

In its suggestions to the Ministry of Human Resource Development ahead of the new education policy, the Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas has also demanded that foreign languages not be offered as an alternative to Indian languages and research work be linked to "national requirements", according to the Indian Express.

HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar is said to have acknowledged the suggestions and promised to discuss them before formulating the new education policy, the report said. The group also wants the complete removal of English from as a medium of instruction, in private and government institutes.
