Hackers Post Dating Links On CEA Arvind Subramanian's Twitter Account

"My profuse apologies for the nuisance/offensive tweets that were sent out as a result."

Your social media accounts might feel very secure and practically 'unhackable' but truth is that they are not. At least not in 2016.

On Monday, Indian economist and the Chief Economic Adviser to the government Arvind Subramanian's Twitter account sent out two tweets that linked to an adult hookup site.

The tweets read:

"Is it difficult for you to find a right partner who will accept any of your crazy desires?"

Subramanian, who is also the Assistant Director in the Research Department of the International Monetary Fund, soon took notice of this and posted an apology tweet.

He wrote, "My twitter account was hacked. My profuse apologies for the nuisance/offensive tweets that were sent out as a result."

The usual suspect is of course a hacked account as Subramanian's tweet states, or possibly this was the result of clicking on a spam link. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
