Smartphone maker OnePlus might not be in the news very often but it does create a buzz from time to time. The company has decided to open a new e-commerce portal called OnePlus Store.
Besides OnePlus smartphones, the portal will sell related accessories such as headphones, power banks, charging cables, and more. So far, OnePlus has been selling smartphones primarily through Amazon.
"We are very excited to bring the globally acclaimed OnePlus shopping experience to our fans in India. With the new platform, our users will find it easier to purchase genuine OnePlus products and fan merchandise, right from the comfort of their homes," Vikas Agarwal, general manager – India, OnePlus, said.
The e-commerce platform marks yet another major milestone in our India journey and reiterates our long term commitment towards the Indian market and our fan community here," he added.
Many Chinese smartphone manufacturers began by selling their smartphones on other portals in India while creating their own platforms alongside -- Xiaomi, Lenovo, and LeEco being the most recent examples.
OnePlus is also going to open its first offline 'zone' in Bengaluru later this year, where they plan to sell phone accessories. It is not clear yet if they will also be selling phones there. When OnePlus 3 was launched in June this year, the company had set up 'experience zones' in stores in different cities for fans and potential buyers to try OnePlus products hands-on.
Last month, OnePlus launched a variant of OnePlus 3 flagship phone in 'soft gold' colour in India. Meanwhile, the phone maker is reportedly working on an upgraded OnePlus 3 phone that will have Qualcomm's Snapdragon 821 chip.
