Philanthropist Parmeshwar Godrej Passes Away

She breathed her last at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.

Socialite and philanthropist Parmeshwar Godrej, wife of Godrej Group chairman Adi Godrej, breathed her last on Monday night. She was 71.

Former cricketer and close friend, Imran Khan tweeted about her demise:

Godrej, who was one of India's first air hostesses, was a regular fixture in Mumbai's page 3 circuit. Though a majority of Indians were familiar with her name, thanks to her impeccable style and appearances in parties and social do-s, very few are aware of her involvement in a plethora of philanthropic projects. She was the face of an AIDS awareness campaigns in the country and had launched an initiative called Heroes Project, along with Hollywood actor Richard Gere and with support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Clinton Global Initiative.

According to reports in dna and India Today, Godrej was suffering from a degenerative ailment of the lungs and breathed her last at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.
