Relations between India and Pakistan have become severely strained after Indian Army's surgical strikes on militant hideouts across the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir.

In fact, Pakistani artists have been caught in the crossfire since the terrorist attack in Uri that killed 19 Indian army-men earlier this month.

On Thursday, the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association announced a ban on Pakistan actors and technicians from working in India. Music concerts by two Pakistani singers, Atif Aslam and Shafqat Amanat Ali had also been called off earlier.

Now, according to a report in The Indian Express, a students exchange programme between India and Pakistan, organised by the Delhi-based NGO, Routes 2 Roots, has been cancelled.

"This visit isn't suitable at this point," Rakesh Gupta of Routes 2 Roots told IE. "We are keeping in mind the current sentiments of the nation and have decided to cancel this student exchange programme, which is an annual event. These are children we are talking about and security is likely to be an issue."

Annual events in Delhi, such as the popular trade fair 'Alishan Pakistan', Indo-Pak exhibition 'Riwaaz' and a lifestyle fiesta titled 'Kya Dilli Kya Lahore' have also been cancelled because of the tense situation existing between the two countries, reported the Asian Age.
