Here's Why This Quora User Wants To 'Slap' Masaan's Director Neeraj Ghaywan

Tough love!

When someone asked on Quora, who is that one person Indians would love to slap, the social media platform turned into quite a virtual violence fest.

Now you may not want to admit it, but there have been times that you have whacked several fellow humans in your head. Say those annoying drivers honking when the traffic signal's red or yourself, every time you spend hundreds of rupees on popcorn in a multiplex.

While there were a host of actors, sports persons, politicians and celebs people claimed to want to slap -- people's inclination for violence was quite mortifying to be honest -- there was one very unexpected name in the list.

And that's Neeraj Ghaywan. Yes, yes, the guy who made a pretty great film called Masaan. Unless someone has something against great acting, a good script, lovely music and a well-made film, why would anyone want to slap Ghaywan, right?

After the initial shock, you realise that Quora user Krishna Singh who wants to "slap" the director of the critically acclaimed film is actually being sarcastic and trying to critique the dubious 'superhits' of Bollywood by praising Ghaywan for representing a far more desirable school of filmmaking.

Here's what Singh says in his answer.

(PS: Singh warns us all beforehand that the answer is filled with sarcasm and he doesn't *actually* want to slap the Masaan director)

"I do not know if he is celebrity or not, but I want to slap him. For those who don't know him, he is the director of movie Masaan," adds Singh.

Singh is basically "pissed" about a few things.

1. Neeraj Ghaywan knows nothing.

"This man knows nothing. He is ignorant. He does not know movies such as Masaan are not meant for Indian cinema."

2. He mentions Masaan's not-so-massive box-office collections.

"Masaan movie budget: 2–3 crores

Box office earnings: 10–15 crores"

3. He insists Ghaywan could've made a commercial cinema instead.

"Had he made his first movie such as Dilwale, Happy New Year, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, he would have earned much more profit."

4. Oh, he questions the choice of the cast too.

"Had he not taken "actors" such as Richa Chadda, Sanjay Misra, Vicky Kaushal and Shweta Tripathi and would have taken "Being Human" Salman Khan, movie would have easily crossed parameter of 100 crores."

5. And the music!

"Had he not chosen "Indian Ocean" for music and would have chosen Yo Yo Honey Singh, this movie could have attracted our youth towards it."

"This man is fool. Don't be like him," Singh concludes.

That's some tough love!
