HYDERABAD -- A 38-year-old man was allegedly hit by a car and flung on the roof of the vehicle which kept moving with the body for around three km in Mahabubnagar district of Telangana, police said today.

The incident occurred on the outskirts of the district's Jadcherla town on 19 September when Srinivasulu was crossing the road.

The car hit him and he was flung into the air following which he fell on top of the vehicle even as the car driver, who seemed to be unaware of it, continued to drive with the body for about three km, a police official said.

"Seeing the body on top of the car roof, some local youths chased the car on their bikes, but in vain as the driver abandoned the vehicle at Macharam and fled away ... police, on reaching the scene, found the victim dead," the official said.

A case was registered in connection with the incident and during the course of investigation, police identified the car owner as one Chandrakala, who resides in Kukatpally area of Hyderabad.

However, a police team found Chandrakala's house locked and efforts are on to nab the absconding driver, the official said.
