Google has announced that it will launch new smartphones on 5 October. With this launch, the company is, in all likelihood, saying goodbye to its Nexus line of smartphones.

As already rumored, the two smartphones that will be unveiled are almost certainly being made by the Taiwanese manufacturer HTC. The two Nexus smartphones launched last year were made by LG and Huawei respectively.

The teaser for the 5 October event shows a search box morphing into a phone. So, it is expected that Google Search will be heavily infused into the phones. It is also likely that Google Assistant, the evolved version of Google Now, will be included in the phones.

According to a report by PhoneArena, details related to Google's new phones were also listed by GeekBench, an outfit that measures processor benchmarks for electronic devices. The names of the listed phones were Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL respectively. It was also noted that both the phones were running the latest unreleased version Android 7.1 Nougat.

Meanwhile, a few clear photos of both the phones have also been leaked, as reported by Android Police. From the photos, it appears that the smaller Google phone will sport a 5.2-inch display, while the higher end model will carry a 5.5-inch display.

Google even has a teaser website for the upcoming phones, called Made By Google. Android Police has suggested that besides the Pixel phones, Google might also release Google Home, Daydream VR headset and a 4K Chromecast. The search giant will also be releasing its messaging app Allo this week, according to reporter Evan Blass.
