Aamir Khan starrer Dangal, one of the most awaited films of 2016, will unveil its trailer with Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which hits theatres on 28 October, around Diwali. While word in the trade circuit was that Shah Rukh Khan starrer Raees would have its trailer premiere alongside Dangal, that decision seems to have changed. Selfies often get a bad rap for being self-indulgent, but at PepsiCo India, they could mean a ticket to a high-flying job at the global consumer giant. The company is launching a millennial hiring drive including a social media contest 'Change The Game', which asks millennials to first upload a "creative" group selfie, followed by a larger question to articulate a business plan for the company and its products for 2020. If impressed, it plans to give a job and send the employee to New York to meet with the company's leadership team including Chairman and Chief Executive Indra Nooyi.

Following the bitter feud within the ruling Samajwadi Party (SP) in Uttar Pradesh, Mulayam Singh Yadav has called for a parliamentary board meeting meeting on Friday to sort out the issues between his son and UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, and his brother Shivpal Yadav. The Mulayam family has been dogged by serious differences but matters reached a flash point yesterday after Akhilesh shunted out Chief Secretary Deepak Singhal, considered as his uncle Shivpal favourite. In a tit-for-tat action, Mulayam took away the post of UP SP chief from his son Akhilesh, perhaps to smooth the ruffled feathers of Shivpal. But within hours the peeved CM hit back by clipping his uncle's wings by divesting him of his key PWD, Irrigation and Cooperative portfolios.

Sports Minister Vijay Goel refused to commit if medallists of the ongoing Rio Paralympics will be conferred with the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award — the highest sporting honour in the country. An Olympic medallist directly qualifies for the Khel Ratna award during an Olympic year but Goel said there is no such policy in place for the paralympians.

Practising teachers will need an enabling and empowering environment where they are treated as valued professionals, writes Anurag Behar in Mint. "Teachers are more often than not seen as the cause of the problems in education, deserving of derision. Securely employed, often absent, and not committed to their jobs—so goes the popular narrative about teachers... Teachers' capacity and their effectiveness need to improve. But that will happen only with structural and systemic changes in teacher education and professional development," he writes

Over the past few years, several fringe groups have spread their tentacles in Bengaluru, in the garb of protecting Kannadiga pride. Carrying the red and yellow Kannada flag, the bigger groups are Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, Jaya Karnataka, Kannada Okkoota and Kannada Sena. But as the workload to carry out assignments grew, they have also grown amoeba-like into several smaller branches, available for a hit on speed dial, wrote TS Sudhir for HuffPost India. Akhilesh Yadav's tussle with his "uncles" has been a consistent feature of his tenure as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. But the rapid developments of this week could mark the deepest fissure in the ruling Samajwadi Party, says an editorial in The Hindu. "Akhilesh Yadav could, in fact, pull this discord to the party's electoral advantage. He does not carry the burden of incumbency issues, primarily the politics of patronage and rent-seeking. But for this to happen he may have to force his father to show his hand more unambiguously and recover some control of the SP's State unit," it says.
