State-run telecom company BSNL is set to stir the wireline broadband market by offering unlimited usage plans for as low as ₹249.
While some are calling it Jio effect, the company has a reputation of providing affordable plans to the consumers.
This plan will be called "UNLIMITED BB 249" and available for the consumers from 9 September. BSNL will offer a 2 Mbps downlink speed along with an enormous FUP of 300 GB. This makes the per GB cost of the Internet less than a ₹1.
"The plan will enhance the customer experience towards wireline broadband services and attract new users to experience BSNL broadband services," said Anupam Shrivastava, Chairman of BSNL in a statement.
"Under this plan, customers can download unlimited Broadband data without bothering about any data limit. BSNL shall offer 2 Mbps speed under this plan," he added.
At Reliance's AGM last week Mukesh Ambani announced tariff plans for Jio. He said that the company is offering the lowest data rate anywhere in the world be providing LTE data for ₹50/GB.
"Since this is a promotional offer, the customer will get benefits of 300 GB of FUP till six months. Later, the customer will be shifted to a more regular broadband plan," the statement said.
On the other hand, Reliance will be bringing fiber net to India with 1 Gbps of speed. Initial reports suggest that the company has already started rolling out services in some cities. And like Jio it will offer initial three months of usage for no cost.Suggest a correction
