Samsung is going to announce a global recall of their newest flagship Note7 today. According to the South Korean news agency Yonhap, the declaration will be made at 5 pm Korean time today. This recall is due to several cases of exploding batteries during the charging of Note7.

Wall street journal recently confirmed that the company has already stopped the shipments of the phone to investigate the issue.

"We are conducting a thorough inspection. We will share the findings as soon as possible. Samsung is fully committed to providing the highest quality products to our consumers," the company told The Verge.

First, a report came out last week that a Samsung Galaxy Note7 has exploded in China. Following that incident there have been mutiple stories across the Internet of exploding Note7 units. Initially, it was speculated that the users might have been using a third party cable to charge their phones.

One of the Samsung offcials told Yonhap that the issue would be only in 0.1 percent of Note7 units but the company doesn't want to take a chance as this is a very big bet for them.

The phone which was launched on 2 August was already very popular. Several reports had citied that the demand of the phone is exceeding the supply. This incident might hurt the sales of the phone in near future as well espcially when we are 5 days away from the launch of the new iPhone.
