This year started with a huge announcement from a company called Ringing Bells which told people that it will sell a smartphone for ₹251. Then followed Docross X1 for ₹888 and NamoTel AccheDin for just ₹99. Now another company has jumped into the race of unbelievably cheap smartphones. Champ1India will be selling a smartphone for 501.
The smartphone called CampOne C1 is listed on the website which has Micromax like logo design. The spec sheet for the phone would ideally list it as a sub ₹10000 category phone. The phone has a 5-inch 720p display. Under the hood, it runs on a MediaTek 6735 quad-core processor with 2 GB of RAM.
ChampOne C1 has a rear camera of 8 MP and a front camera of 5 MP. The phone has an internal memory of 16 GB. It runs on Android 5.1.1 and has a 2500 mAh battery. Surprisingly, the company has listed a 2A quick charger as one of the components.
The Rajasthan-based company has been registered with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs but the phone is not listed under the BIS Certification list. Early reports suggest that the company might be putting this price as a promotional offer and later it will be raised to somewhere under ₹10000.
The website of ChampOne is very sketchy. There is a registration button but nothing happens when you click on it. The first flash sale of the product would be taking place on 2 September.
There is a message on the website saying, "We are facing technical issue with our payment gateway partner [Ccavenue (Avenues India Pvt. Ltd.)]. You would not be able to register for the application for next 24 hours. We sincerely regret for your inconvenience and would try to get it fixed as soon as possible. Thank you for your support.."
Looking at the website, the company doesn't seem to be stopping at only making a smartphone. It has listed a tablet and a smartwatch with a camera which are coming soon.
ChampOne has released a cleaner app as well. Which hardly has any positive reviews on the play store.
