WATCH: Woman Caught On CCTV Beating And Strangling Her One-Year-Old Child

"I have often noticed swelling and bruises on my child’s body," the victim's father said.

In a horrifying video doing the rounds on social media, a woman in Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh is seen hitting and strangling her one-year-old son.

According to ANI, Deepak Chaturvedi, the accused's husband, installed a CCTV in his house after he suspected his wife Poonam of torturing and trying to kill their son.

The Hindustan Timesquoted Deepak as saying, "I have often noticed swelling and bruises on my child's body. I tried to know about it from my wife but she use to term them normal accidents. To find the truth, I installed CCTV cameras in my house when she was away."

Deepak, who submitted the footage at DIG's office on Wednesday, also said, "My wife does not consider me as her husband and is a threat to the life of my child. I want her to be put behind bars."

The accused has already left Deepak's house and now lives with her parents. According to HT, Poonam's father has accused his son-in-law of harassing their daughter over dowry demands.

"He was demanding Rs 5 lakh in dowry and often used to beat her for that," HT quoted Vishnukant, Poonam's father as saying.

He also claimed that Deepak used to drug Poonam, saying his daughter was under the influence of drugs when the video was recorded.

Meanwhile, DIG Ashutosh Kumar said, "I have seen the video and ordered an inquiry into the matter."
