According to a report from IDC Xiaomi's Redmi Note 3 became the most shipped phone in India for a single quarter online. The Chinese smartphone makers shipped 880,000 units in the second quarter to India.
The IDC report also highlighted the fact that this is almost the double the sales than the phone which is in the second spot of the list.
Xiaomi announced that they have sold more than 1.5 million units of the phone in just five months after the launch. The phone was announced in India in March, and in June Xiaomi's Global VP Hugo Barra had said the Redmi Note 3 is very popular in India. And they had managed to sell more than 6 lakh units within two months.
The company also recently celebrated selling more than 110 million Redmi devices worldwide. In India, the brand has had a good amount of success as well. Since last year, Xiaomi is shipping more than 1 million devices.
A few weeks ago Xiaomi India's Head Manu Jain also said that it plans to double their offline presence in India.
"It has been extremely encouraging to witness the overwhelming support for Redmi Note 3 in India, such that it has become the best-selling smartphone ever in the online market," Jain said in a statement today.
This month Xiaomi launched its budget-end phones Xiaomi Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S prime. And in the first sale held on 9 August, they sold more than 90,000 units of Redmi 3S prime.
In an Interview with HuffPost India,company's India Product head Jai Mani said that it plans to bring more products into the country very soon.
