Badminton star PV Sindhu scripted history by becoming the first Indian woman athlete to win an Olympic silver medal in a nail-biting match against with two-time World Champion Carolina Marin.

Sindhu said she was very happy with the silver medal, and added that she had worked hard for it.

Politicians, film personalities and the sports fraternity joined the social media chorus in praising Sindhu.

After producing a spirited fight-back to clinch the first game, 21-year-old Sindhu, who hails from Hyderabad lost against world number one Carolina Marin in the nerve -wracking finals of the women's singles event that lasted one hour and 20 minutes.
