Musician-turned-BJP politician Babul Supriyo tied the knot with his girlfriend of two years, Rachna Sharma, in a plush ceremony held at an upscale hotel in New Delhi.
Supriyo, who is also the Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, had reportedly met Sharma on a flight.
According to India Today, Supriyo 'struck a conversation' with Sharma who was an on-duty flight attendant.
Speaking of the chance encounter, Supriyo said, "For the last two years, my fate seems to have been circling in the air. Strange things are happening 35,000 ft above the sea level. Seems like someone is sitting up there and writing the script of my life."
The wedding took place on 9 August and was attended by noted politicians, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the who's who of the music industry.
This is Supriyo's second marriage. He has a daughter from his first wife.
