VIDEO: 13-Year-Old Dalit Girl Denied Water By Priest In UP

As India gears up to celebrate 70 years of Independence.

In yet another case of blatant discrimination against Dalits in India, on Wednesday, a 13-year-old girl was reportedly refused drinking water at a temple in Sambhal district in Uttar Pradesh.

According to The Indian Express, the girl was denied water by a priest because she was a Dalit.

According to reports, when the priest was confronted by the girl's father over his actions, he attacked the father with a trident. A case has been registered against the accused under the SC/ST Act.

Many cases of cruelty against Dalits have been registered in different parts of the country in the past few months. Two Dalit men were tied and beaten for skinning a dead cow in Andhra Pradesh this morning.
