The former chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Kalikho Pul, was found dead at his home on Tuesday morning, in what appears to be a case of suicide. The Congress rebel was found hanging at the official residence of the state CM, reported NDTV, as he had never vacated it after resigning from his post as acting chief minister last month. He was 46 years old.
He had become acting CM on 19 February, after the state was put under President's rule earlier. However, he had to relinquish the post on 13 July after the Supreme Court ruled in the Congress government's favour.
He is survived by his wife and five sons.
Condolences poured in from shocked politicians across the different parties.
"It is sad and really unfortunate that young leader Kalikho Pul is no more with us," former Arunachal Pradesh CM Nabam Tuki told ANI.
